Classic video. Got me into Toneriders and point me towards buying a Valvetronix amp.

Is it neck heavy? Does it have neck dive ?

I bought this fantastic 12 string in the first place for the better playable neck AND a cheaper alternative for the Byrds jangle compared to the Rickenbacker 12 string, but I discovered that the guitar is also very well suited for ambient synth pieces. I play it in a combination of my EHX Mel 9, Boss Sy1 and EHX String9 pedals, and it delivers a very broad sound comparable to the best of Vangelis' 1970's works.

It has less bottom end because of the cutaway. Any time we remove mass from a guitar, whether it's scalloping the bracing, tapering a top, carving a slotted peghead, or creating a cutaway, we're changing the physics of the guitar body. So, by the simple laws of science, yes, there is a difference in sound between a guitar with a cutaway and a non-cutaway.

12 years late, but you olayed enter sandman wrong

I bought one at the time of this review.. It is still looking amazing, sounding superb and playing like a dream in December 2023...The pickups really are voiced so well.. The neck has great playability and the body resonates the sound brilliantly, even when unplugged.... I have used it through a variety of valve, solid state and modelling amplifiers over the years and have just tried it through a positive grid spark mini to which it sounds amazing.

Sorry maybe I missed this point... What's the neck like, in terms of thickness?

This or Squier precision CV 70? I can't decide, this is a little more expansive, about 50 euros more, not a problem.

I bought a Fender villager 7 weeks ago great sounding guitar only had to do a little tweak with the truss rod as my action moved a slight bit during the past week adjusted it to where I feel most comfortable and it plays fantastic now🥰🥰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Never had a problem aligning a guitar neck....... 1st E sting and 6th E string on tells you all you need to do and guage from there to centralise neck.

Extremely noisy amp. Cool sound but just has totally too much noise. Even worse with pedals. Skip that at this price point. Should be better…

Excellent! since the link is no longer working, I have a noob question. Since the Strat pickups are wired with one end of the coil grounded, trisonics have two wires and a separate ground, how did you wire the Strat into the switch and ground it? thanks!

Is this something that affects fret buzz? And if so, is having the wrong neck angle common on set neck or neck through guitars? I ask because my neck-through guitar gets way more buzz(evenly across the fretboard) than I think it should, and the truss has been adjusted propperly as well as the action.

Jesus dude, you need to invest in some proper tools.

If you take it too far apart you remove too much wax and microphonics will increase.

I have one c10 cedar top I like the sound, but shop told me that is made in china..is that true MR licence?

Engineering here seems reasonable and correct- I had the exact same problem- vintage bridge string spacing too wide both e strings too close to the edge, I could shim the neck to give a little more real estate for the high e , or simply refret the neck and leave more material as opposed to beveling the frets as much and so on- my solution ( and the easiest fix ) was to simply purchase a callaham vintage narrow bridge- has the correct screw spacing, but 52.5mm string spacing . Problem solved. Great video btw-

I’ve got this exact guitar, I also have a USA strat and although it’s kind of cliche to say it, the feel and finish of the FK is in my view extremely premium. The fret ends, the fingerboard edges, the quality of the wood, it just feels like a good high end Strat. I bought mine new with an excellent gig bag, for £400, bearing in mind some Squiers want £400 off you these days - there’s no doubt in my mind it’s an excellent guitar. You’d have no issues whatsoever gigging or recording with it. Not many people mention this but the radius of the fingerboard is interesting too, 10” so sort of flatter than a standard Strat but not to a silly extent, works great.

Setting up my kit Explorer. How to attach my bolt-on neck? I put a broken-off wooden matchstick or toothpick into each neck screwhole along with a drop of good wood glue. Bolt the neck on but don't tighten. The ground-up wood and glue make a slurry around the hole. Fills in any pockets. Then I string up with waxed dental floss. Very cheap and flexible, yet strong. Only the E,D,G and high E. Now I've got a good guideline. Sight down the D and G and you'll see the center dots and whether they align with the strings. Now you can push or pull the neck to correct that alignment. Gently tighten the neck bolts and use some strong tape across either neck or body to hold that position. A criss-cross pattern is best. Set it down flat and go find something else to do for a day or two. Being nice to women, children and animals are strongly recommended.
